NVL Review (31st October and 1st November) - Cambridge continue strong start as Aces hold the cards early on

Women's NVL
Division 1 North's Cambridge ARU are one such team who still boast a 100% record, with their latest victory a 3-0 success at Manchester Moss Side Jaguars.
Having won consecutive promotions, the North West club are finding life tougher at the higher level and are still seeking their first win after going down 25-19, 25-20, 25-10.
There were wins for the two teams relegated from Super League last season Leeds Gorse and Darkstar Derbyshire, who respectively got the better of Northampton and Manchester Marvels Mayhem.
The Yorkshire club ran out 21-9, 25-21, 25-20 victors on the road, while the East Midlanders won a five-set thriller on their own court (25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 25-22, 16-14), and the pair sit second and third in the table.
Onyx London moved back to the summit of Division 1 South as they were confident victors in the West Country at Bristol (25-15, 25-20, 25-21).

In the absence of a game for Team South Wales, London Inter Crocs were also able to move above them on set quotient, albeit having played tow more games, by bouncing back from last weekend's double setback with an excellent 25-21, 25-18, 25-20 victory over Reading Aces.
Richmond also took closer order as they registered a 25-17, 25-22, 25-19 win on their visit to Oxford Eagles.

The only match in Division 2 Central saw Black Country defeat West Midlands rivals Wombourne 25-21, 25-10, 25-21, leaving the hosts without a win from their first three matches.
Going well and heading up Division 2 North by a six-point margin are Newcastle Staffs, who have won all four matches to heads things up, York Falcons being their latest victims (25-15, 25-21, 25-23).

Darkstar Derbyshire 2 began their Division 3 North campaign in style as they comfortably beat Leeds Gorse 3 and Newcastle Staffs 2 in straight sets, with the Staffordshire side prevailing in the third match by the same scoreline.
Still unbeaten in Division 2 Central are Cambridge Rhinos, who saw off who could be one of their main rivals for promotion in Lincoln Cannons in straight sets. Both sides were triangular winners over Nuneaton Flames.

Kent Invicta continued their good form in Division 3 South East and are tucked in behind Spelthorne Future Stars after a convincing win over Worthing.
Portsmouth now have a one-point lead over Cardiff Falcons after a triangular double against Weymouth (3-1) and City of Bristol (3-0).
The other match in the Division 3 South West triangular saw Weymouth come out on top 3-1.
Elsewhere, Southampton 2 had the best of their triangular with Bedminster 2 (3-1) and Cheltenham and Gloucester (3-2) to sit third, while C&G lost out in five sets again in the West Country derby that was the third match.
Men's NVL
London Aces are currently storming away at the top of Division 1 South and have a 12-point lead after five wins from five.
First, on Saturday, they beat potential promotion rivals Cambridge ARU 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20) and then, on Sunday, repeated the trick at Cambridge Rhinos.
And while there is still a long way to go and no other team has played more than three times, it is nevertheless a handsome advantage to carry going into November.
Oxford Bulls, meanwhile, collected their first league win of the season as they beat fellow newly-promoted side MK City 3-1 (25-16, 25-20, 22-26, 25-14).
Black Country's tough start to the season continued in Division 1 North's only game as they were on the wrong end of a 25-23, 25-14, 25-23 scoreline at Darkstar Derbyshire.
It was a busy weekend of action in Division 2 North, where five matches were contested, and those teams who played twice enjoyed their weekend.

Loughborough Students joined Leeds Gorse 2 on 12 points at the top with their fourth wind from four as they defeated local rivals Nottingham Rockets on Friday night on one of the courts used for Opening Weekend and then defeated Everton Dugongs on Saturday (25-12, 18-25, 25-12, 25-21).
Also making a quick start are Intervolley Manchester who have three wins from four after proving too strong for both Stockport and Sheffield Springers, who both remain winless so far.

After their defeat to Loughborough, Nottingham Rockets bounced back quickly to go 2-2 for the season winning 3-1 at Manchester Liberators (25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18).
In Men's Division 2 Central, Reading Aces are up to second, having played two more games than some, with a comprehensive 25-16, 25-12, 25-10 win at Northampton.

Telford are also well placed in the early standings are beating the team they pipped to the Division 3 Central title last season, Birmingham City, in four hard-fought sets (25-17, 23-25, 23-25, 25-22).
London Lionhearts struck an important early blow in the Division 2 South title race as they won 3-1 at previously unbeaten Weymouth (13-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-22) to go six points clear at the top.
Exeter Storm recorded their second win of the season as all three of their sets were won by the same 25-15 margin in a four-set success over Richmond Bucks.
Team South Wales opened up their campaign in a bid to earn the promotion that just eluded them last season as they won both their Division 3 South West triangular matches against Southampton 2 and Bristol 2, both by a 3-1 scoreline.
The South Coast club won a terrific third game by a nerve-racking 15-13 in the last.

Cambridge 2 may have lost three of their first four games, but they won back-to back triangular Division 3 Central matches against Tamworth Spartans 2 (3-1) and Black Country 2 (3-0), while Spartans secured the other match 3-2.
Division 3 North side Legends Oldham won the top of the table clash with Manchester Marvels Marauders, along with their game against Everton Manatees, in straight sets to replace the former at the top.
Marauders did at least beat Everton to sit a point off the summit in second spot.
